Modern Rocketry Begins

In 1898, a teacher by the name of  Konstantin Tsiolkovsky (1857-1935) suggested space exploration by rockets. Speed and range of a rocket he said was limited by exhaust velocity of escaping gases of a rocket. Konstantin was the leader of modern astronautics.
